 Port City Gymnastics hosts both Developmental Program (Optional Levels 6-10) and Xcel Programs. All programs are run according to USA Gymnastics and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) guidelines and compete in meets across the South East.


Xcel Competitive Programs: 

USAG Excel Gold, Platinum
AAU Excel Bronze & Silver

USAG Optional Levels 6-10

About our Xcel Program

The USA Gymnastics Xcel program was designed as a flexible competitive option for both coaches and gymnasts. Its goal is to provide gymnasts of all skill levels and commitment to enjoy a fulfilling gymnastics experience. Xcel offers a broad selection of skills, allowing athletes to focus on their individual strengths while meeting the program’s requirements.

The Xcel program places a strong emphasis on sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun. It also prioritizes the development of proper technique, form, and performance, helping gymnasts reach their full potential.

     

We train gymnasts on each level:

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Levels 6 - 10

Frequently Asked Questions

When are tryouts?
An exact tryout date is TBD. A spot on our competitive team is "invite only" and requires an evaluation by our Team Director. We start these evaluations in March.


How often are practices? 
Hours per week are different per each level. You can expect at minimum 4 hours a week and a maximum 16 hours per week. 

What if we miss Team Evaluations and want to start late? 
We accept athletes in our competitive team program through August. If you are interested in joining team and missed team tryouts, please contact us via email at pcg1@gopcg.com.

When do competitions start? 
Competitions begin early December and end early May. 

How long does the Team season run? 
Team is a year-round commitment. Summer training begins early June-July with competition training starting in August.


How many meets are we expected to travel for? 
Between 5-7 a season, averaging 1 per month.
